Yahoo Voices Went Down; Took The Visitor, The Letter in the Foyer, Rosalyn Moves In and Salvation Road with It

I’ve been a freelance writer for about 7-8 years now. I’ve written about 1000 articles, all told and until 7/31/14, about half of those were on Yahoo!. I am most disappointed, however, that my stories were taken down on that date, especially as I am participating in GISHWHES again this year and one of the items requires a previously published scifi author – which, according to my friend in publishing, I am, since I published those stories (albeit online). However, before all the articles went down, I did manage to secure screenshots of my stories, so I could remind myself (even if I never do get an actual book published without self-publishing, though I still have hope of that) that they were once there for all the world to see. So I am posting those screen shots below, both for my own edification and as proof of my author status for Gishers who asked me to write stories for them.

My book is on sale now!

I am excited to announce that I have finally gotten my book copyrighted and put it up for sale on Amazon, as an ebook for the Kindle. I don’t know what will happen, but I am excited to find out. I’ve made one sale so far, which isn’t much, but it’s a beginning!

I have G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. to thank, at least in part. I actually started the copyrighting process back in January, but it is a slow process. I received the notice of copyright just around the time I started participating in the scavenger hunt. One of the items on the list was “sell an ebook to Jeff Bezos”. I wasn’t going to try it because I wasn’t sure how to contact him, but in the end, I got my ebook set up and I sent and email to him. I did not get a reply, but it doesn’t matter. The hunt was an amazing experience and I managed to get my book posted for sale and that is what I am taking away here.

For those who don’t know (and didn’t click the link) GISHWHES is a crazy scavenger hunt started by actor and crazy person Misha Collins. Everyone is sectioned off into teams of 15 and after a few days of getting to know one another, the teams are given a list of over 100 items to obtain, create or accomplish, all of which must be filmed or photographed. Some of the items are relatively straightforward, like create a watercolor painting, but there is always a twist, like the people in the painting must be on rocking horses. There is a lot of interaction with one’s team and many of the items require interaction with the public, often with total strangers. This was outside my comfort zone and I did not do a lot of that kind, but I did push myself and make myself do some of the public things because having an experience was the main reason I signed up.

I am so glad I did! I made friends and memories that won’t soon be forgotten.
